Cytogenetics, Cytotaxonomy and Genetics of Chrysomelidae

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Series Entomologica ((SENT,volume 42))

Abstract

Very likely the most important feature of the living things is their own pool of genes, that is the whole inherited factors shared by the individuals of any species. Many different kinds of traits, from the molecules to the external characteristics, are directly or at least indirectly governed by the genes. Even the immediate future of a species, its evolutionary capacity for survival in different environments, is largely dependent on the genetic information that it has.
