Abstract

The Neotropical Cassidinae form a group of more or less 2000 species (according to Blackwelder, 1946) living on plants of the families Bignoniaceae, Compositae, Convolvulaceae, Solanaceae and others. Due to this they developed special characters which assure their survival and made them different from the other insects, as mentioned below.
