Abstract

It is shown that the study of the depolarisation properties of the Raman scattered light in combination with measurements of absorption of polarized infrared light on oriented and non oriented samples provides a way to obtain information on molecular flexibility and mobility of chain molecules. The melting process of polyethylene has been studied in this way and recent data are presented.
