Abstract
It is an old working hypothesis that solar system solids mineralogy could be of importance for understanding the nature of interstellar dust (Dorschner, 1968). Recently, a new approach to this subject by Jones and Williams (1987) considered interplanetary material as a guide to mineralogical modeling of the composition of interstellar grains. Most primitive solids of the solar system, chondrites, IDP’s, and cometary dust, which are assumed to be representative for condensed phases forming in molecular-cloud gas during star formation, contain Mg-silicates of olivine and orthopyroxene type.
