Abstract

Greece has one of the highest ratios of shoreline length to area in the world. Except for a few aggrading areas, most of Greeceā€™s coasts have not recovered following the rapid sea-level rise of the Late Pleistocene and first half of the Holocene. Evidence of drowned coastal areas can be found everywhere with only 4 or 5 deltaic regions advancing in the last 5,000 years.
