Part of the book series: Astrophysics and Space Science Library ((ASSL,volume 143))

Abstract

The North America-Pelican Nebulae are noted for a large number of active stars with Ha in emission. During the last two decades 73 flare stars were discovered in this aggregate. B19 is one of the most active and also the brightest. It is positioned several degrees away from the nebulosities (RA=20h 41m00s; Dec=+41°11’; 1950) and is seen projected against the Big Rift of the Milky Way. Figure 1 identifies B19=V1589 Cyg on Palomar Sky Survey blue and red prints, respectively. We note the presence of an extremely red star 20 arcsecs north of B19. It is considerably weaker in red and not visible at all in blue.
