Abstract

It is now generally accepted that energetic, and often bipolar, mass outflows are an important phase in early stellar evolution. Evidence for such outflows is provided by a variety of phenomena. The most important ones are:

  1. (1)

    the high-velocity molecular gas (HVMG)

  2. (2)

    Herbig-Haro (HH) objects and optical jets.
