Abstract
Remote measurements of the vertical distribution of ozone up to 15 km are essential to study the ozone budget in the troposphere. Exchanges between the troposphere and the stratosphere were studied using the Differential Absorption Lidar (DIAL) technique and are presented to illustrate the potential of lidar systems to quantify ozone transferts with high spatial and temporal resolutions. A new generation of lidar systems to be operated either in a regional ground based network or in an aircraft is also discussed.
