Calculation of the Distribution of NOx Compounds in Europe

Part of the book series: NATO ASI Series ((ASIC,volume 227))

Abstract

A lagrangian model to calculate the European NOx-budget, is described. Emissions of NOx, SO2 and NH3 are specified on the 39x37 EMEP-grid with a grid distance of 1503km at 60°N latitude. The numerical weather forecast model at the Norwegian Meteorological Institute has provided data for wind, atmospheric stability, temperature, relative humidity and cloud cover. The chemical description includes 10 different species in the gas and aerosol phases. Calculations have been carried out of daily values of these species for the year 1985, and some comparison of calculations and measurements are shown in the paper.
