Recent Aspects of Transition Metal Catalyzed Reactions of Carbenes in the Realm of Biologically Active Substances

  • Chapter
Aspects of Homogeneous Catalysis

Part of the book series: Aspects of Homogeneous Catalysis ((AHCA,volume 6))

Abstract

The applications of transition metal catalysis for controlling the reactions of carbenes (carbenoids and alkylidene complexes) are reviewed.

Particular emphasis is laid on some recent developments of highly efficient and selective systems, as illustrated by their application in key steps of the synthesis of natural and biologically active molecules. Some particular stoichiometric reactions of stable carbenes complexes (Fischer type) of ylides and of alkylidene complexes are also considered.
