Abstract

In my view, creativity is used by a lot of people and in many situations. However there are some limitations to the application of creativity:

  1. 1)

In some domains more use is made of creativity than in others. It is only recently that creativity has stopped being a taboo in organizations. Effective diffusion of knowledge and skills in creativity throughout organizations still is far away (so there is work to do for us consultants!)

  2. 2)

Though many people use creativity techniques they are not fully aware of this and they are not systematic in their proceedings. They might profit from more awareness of the creative process and skills in creative problem solving methods.

  3. 3)

If creativity techniques are used they rely heavily on verbal skills. Nonverbal skills and techniques are also promising

  4. 4)

Idea generation is not always followed by adequate action. How do people implement ideas? How are ideas worked out? These demands need serious consideration.
