Abstract
Backscattering of the incident particle penetrating the target surface occurs when close collision takes place at a certain depth from the surface. In this case the energy spectrum of the backscattered particles has a continuum form with a cut-off at a certain energy depending on the incident energy and the target mass number (1). The cross-section of different interaction processes between the energetic heavy charged particles and the atoms of a solid target depend on the impact parameter involved in collisions with the individual target atoms (2).
