Abstract

Heptakis (2,6-di-O-pentyl)-β-CD 1b and heptakis (2,3,6-tri-O-pentyl)-β-CD 2b were synthesized by etherification of β-CD, Acetylation of 1b yielded heptakis (2,6-di-O-pentyl,3-O-acetyl)-β-CD. The corresponding α-CD derivatives were obtained in the same way. All of these compounds are well soluble in most aprotic organic solvents and they are able to complex polar guest molecules. The stability constants of these complexes were measured by an improved Benesi-Hildebrand procedure using NMR data.
