Abstract

Many inflammatory cutaneous diseases and syndromes have been reported to have important or intriguing associations with parapro-teinaemia and myeloma. In some of these, the recognition of the cutaneous disease may, through screening laboratory studies, facilitate the diagnosis of an underlying haematological process that may have otherwise escaped clinical notice. While such associations are of interest and of some importance, the pathogenetic relationship between the cutaneous and the haematological processes remains unclear in the vast majority of cases. A list of several such associations is included in Table 4.1. With time, other cutaneous disease processes probably will be added to this list.
