Abstract

It is a short step from perception to perceptual belief, which is just acceptance of a sensible thing as a type. However, a general theory of belief is a long step from an abstract model of the perceptual, and I have no very constructive theory to present. A study of the relationship of perceptual belief to other intentional attitudes, in particular to immediate desires, is alone enough to keep us quite busy except for assorted programmatic remarks that I will offer in the last section of this chapter.
