Abstract

Acceptance of stimulus patterns taken in some way by a perceiver is not yet perception, for according to main stream epistemology perception is veridical while acceptance could be illusory. When they can be said to perceive at all, organisms perceive objects in the world, not stimuli or sensory transductions. So our theory must be extended to real objects of which acceptance is in some sense true.
