The Vierbein, Vielbeins and Spinors in Higher Dimensions

Abstract

The tensor representations of the group GL(4, R) of the general linear 4 x 4 matrices behave like tensors under the subgroup of Lorentz transformations, but there are no representations of GL (4, R) which behave like spinors under the Lorentz subgroup. The tetrad formalism or the vierbeins provide an approach for dealing with spinors in general relativity.
