Abstract
May I first of all express my appreciation for Father Leavitt’s rich and wide-ranging paper. As a systematic theologian I am grateful for his historical survey of Catholic attitudes toward pluralism, for his assessment of the grounds provided by Vatican II for affirming and qualifying pluralism, and for his view of contemporary pluralism and Catholic thought.
