Abstract

During the last decade intensive research activities have been started to apply ideas of control theory, automata theory and computer science to the field of biology and medicine (1, 10, 12). Complicated mathematical formulas have been developed describing different forms of cell growth (8). Unfortunately, most of the complex approaches established by mathematicians are not fully understood by clinicians. Therefore, the viewpoint of control engineering seems to be a good link between these totally different worlds of interpreting neoplastic diseases.
