Abstract
Indicative of the growing importance of business/education partnerships is the increasing number of awards given for these efforts. Last year Portland Community College in Portland, Oregon, and their partner, Tektronix, received two awards. The first was the Keeping America Working Partnership Award, given by the American Association of Community and Junior Colleges, The Association of Community College Trustees, and Keeping America Working Sponsors, including John Wiley and Sons, IBM, and The Sears Roebuck Foundation. The second award was the first annual Excellence in Partnerships Award given by the U.S. Department of Education.
