Abstract
In 1978-1987 field experiments were made with three 5-year crop rotations and three frequencies of potatoes 1/5, 2/5, 3/5 using two potato cultivars, i.e. Sowa which is a susceptible variety, and Tarpan which is a variety resistant to the potato cyst nematode Globodera rostochiensis Woll., pathotype Ro 1. During the whole period of the experiments no nematodes were found in a cereal crop rotation (20% cropped to potato) and under all Tarpan plots. Our data suggest that the upper limit for the frequency of potatoes in crop rotations in northern Poland is 20% for susceptible and 40% for resistant cultivars.
