Abstract

The Problem of the Yellow River Control—Proposed Plans to Harness the River.

  1. 1.

    To reinforce the soil conservation works on the tributaries in the middle reaches,

  2. 2.

    To build the Taohuayu Reservoir mainly for flood control,

  3. 3.

    To build three large reservoirs on the main stream of the middle reaches,

  4. 4.

    To provide a floodway in the lower reaches,

  5. 5.

    To provide settling basins along the river for silt deposition,

  6. 6.

    To develop many diversion channels to release the water and silt,

  7. 7.

    To convey 10 billion cu.m of clear water annually for sluicing the river channel, and

  8. 8.

    To improve the river mouth delta.
