Abstract
The lower Yellow River bed is higher than the ground surface on both banks. It is known as the famous suspended river. Because of this, every breach during flooding causes more disasters than any other river in China. Flood threats to the lower Yellow River come from storms in the middle reaches. The main storm regions are located between Shanxi Province and Shaanxi Province in the basins of its major tributaries of Jin, Wei, Lou, and around the main course from Sannmenxia and Huayuankou, including the Yi, Lou, and Qin tributaries.
