Abstract

The spectral behaviour of the direct and indirect interband multiphoton absorption (MPA) coefficient α (n) d,i for a number of crystals has been investigated in a large excitation energy range. Experimental results can be described well by a parametric formula with mixed spectral dependence, indicating the simultaneous contribution of different transition mechanisms to MPA amplitude. A qualitative and quantitative comparison between experimental and various theoretical MPA line-shapes is discussed.
