Abstract

Raman spectroscopy has been used for ophthalmological studies. Results obtained by traditional instrumentation on intraocular lenses based on new materials and on isolated natural lenses are presented and discussed. Measurements by multichannel Raman spectroscopy technique are also reported and the possibility of the “in vivo” evaluation of materials’ biocompatibi1ity and of the clinical application of Raman spectroscopy in lens diseases is considered.
