Abstract
We have had intense and far-ranging discussions in these last few days, broken only occasionally by our sunny interludes on the beach! I regret that I could not join you there today as I was busy preparing these few remarks. I hope that they will prove worthy of the sacrifice! In any event I trust that errors and oversights will be attributed more to distraction than to malice or to incompetence.
We should begin by defining ‘AGN’ to include both the central electromagnetic spectrum and the extended particulate-wave-magnetohydrodynamic structure inferred to have been emitted from it. Moreover I shall discuss these two aspects separately, beginning with the nuclear region.
