Abstract
This chapter is about cohomology groups, the “oldest” of the homological concepts. We pay tribute to the history of the topic by introducing some facts about cohomology in the preparatory part of the book. At the same time the concepts and methods in the main part of the book illustrate an important area where cohomology is applied. The motivation for this was discussed in more detail in the Intro.§5.
