General discussion on Perturbation of the gravity-capillary wave spectrum by current variations

Abstract

During this workshop several models were presented to explain the modulation of short wind waves by non-uniform currents. For details on these models, see the contributions by Alpers, Thompson, Thomas & Edwards and Gastel. All models can be seen as limiting cases of the complete energy balance. They are obtained by neglecting some terms and making assumptions on the functional description of others. Each model can be extended by including the effect of large scale waves.
