Applied Modelling to Underwater Vehicles Identification

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to derive statistical mathematical models arising from the acoustic scattering of an underwater object. Global and local models are considered, which can be deduced by the SEM (Singularity Expansion Metod), originally developed in the field of electromagnetics. After a survey of the recent relevant literature, a parametric inverse problem approach is formulated, based on ARMAX (Auto Regressive Moving Average with Exogenous inputs) models. The related identification and parameter estimation tasks are examined and a number of identification methods and numerical algorithms are considered and concisely compared.
