Abstract

Certain properties of binary relations are so frequently encountered that it is useful to have names for them. The properties we shall consider are reflexivity, symmetry, transitivity, and connectedness. All these apply only to relations in a set, i.e., in A x A for example, not to relations from A to B, where BA.
