Abstract
Industrial methods for the production of metal boride, boron carbide and boron nitride powders are reviewed, and reference made to the fabrication of artefacts by processes such as hot-pressing. Applications are indicated with special attention to the valuable properties displayed: very high hardness and the resistance to attack by molten metals. Special uses include the high added-value areas of the nuclear and electronics industries.
