Abstract

This paper aims to review the current synthesis methods of SiC particles, platelets, fibers and whiskers which play a role of reinforcing phase in ceramic composites. A comparison of physical and chemical properties of various commercial grades such as purity, crystal phase, agglomerate and crystal size, dispersion behaviour, etc. is presented.
