Introductory Remarks for the NATO Workshop on Movable Bed Physical Models

  • Chapter
Movable Bed Physical Models

Part of the book series: NATO ASI Series ((ASIC,volume 312))

Abstract

Movable bed models have long been employed to investigate complex hydraulic phenomena. However, the design and usage of models still greatly rely upon experiments and judgments. The interpretation of results from the famous movable bed tests for the Yellow River in China, conducted by the eminent Professor Herbert Engels, is yet to be agreed upon. We wish to thank NATO for partially sponsoring this Workshop so that researchers from different countries can share knowledge on this important subject.
