Abstract
Plant tissue culture laboratories have design requirements that distinguish them from other types of laboratories and some needs are unique for a particular business that would be setting up a laboratory. Therefore, careful initial planning is desirable in order to avoid problems related to special requirements. Unlike other facilities, e.g. microbiology or clinical blood laboratories, the plant tissue culture laboratory is still in an evolutionary phase and little specialized equipment has been developed. Accordingly, some designers have met particular needs of the laboratory by drawing from non-laboratory sources such as commercial food service, food processing, and office supply industries.
