Abstract
It is clear that as we move towards 1992 in the financial services sector, financial institutions in the Community will be the subject of new competitive conditions. What I want to look at is the present state of development of the regulatory and supervisory framework at the European level (and then how this relates to developments in the Community’s competition policy). I then want to look at what else needs to be done if we are to arrive at our destination of a fully liberalized internal market in Europe.
