Abstract
The inflammatory bowel diseases, chronic non-specific ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, have been increasingly recognized as important clinical entities in paediatric patients. In the following discussion, an overview of selected features of these disorders as they affect children is presented, recognizing that areas relating to genetics, endoscopic and radiological diagnosis, and management (medical, dietary and surgical) are addressed elsewhere in the Symposium.
