Abstract
Helicobacter pylori is the commonest bacterial infection in the world. The mode of transmission of H. pylori is of fundamental importance when considering strategies for its control. This is of increasing importance as the public health implications of infection become clear. However, despite much research the exact route of transmission of H. pylori remains controversial.
