Abstract

Two-phase materials are widely used in industry: alpha-beta titanium alloys or dual-phase steels for example. Many studies were, and are still, devoted to the prediction of the mechanical behaviour of such materials, knowing the behaviour of their individual constituents. Different viewpoints may be considered: experimental, theoretical or numerical. Due to a combination of difficulties (the heterogeneity in strain repartition, the complexity of geometrical relationships between the different phases), this problem is far from being totally solved at the present time.
