Abstract
In order to analyse the scope for conversion of the military industries, and of military technology, in Central and Eastern Europe, it is essential to appreciate the broader industrial innovation and technology policy context which forms the foundation for current debates. This chapter aims to provide that context, with particular reference to the case of Hungary.
