Abstract

Capillary electrophoresis (CE) with its high resolving power has attracted great interest for the analysis of different classes of compounds including neutral hydrocarbons. In principle, neutral substances like aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons cannot be separated electrophoretically unless they are either given a charge by complexation or solvophobic association, or micellar electrokinetic capillary chromatography (MEKC) is used for the separation of the uncharged molecules.
