Passive Samplers as a Long-Term Monitoring System for Hydrophobic Organic Contaminants

  • Chapter

Abstract

A new passive sampling method is presented for time-integrated long-term monitoring of hydrophobic organic contaminants in air and water. The time-integrated sampling is achieved by adsorption of the contaminant using a diffusion dosimeter packed with suitable solid phases, e.g. moderately hydrophobic C18-coated solid phases, XAD or amberlite resins.
