Thermal-Mechanical Modelling for Hot Rolling: Experimental Substantiation

  • Conference paper

Abstract

The accuracy of predictions of mathematical models of hot rolling depends on the rigour and quality of the description of the boundary conditions. For the mechanical component these involve the distribution of surface tractions on the roll/strip interface and the shape of that interface. In the thermal portion the heat transfer coefficient in the roll gap needs to be specified.
