Abstract

In this chapter I shall first say something general about economic stability; then briefly recount the recent story of the international economy — a story in which Johannes Witteveen has played a distinguished part — and its prospects up to the end of this century; and finally list some of the questions about this period that the future economic historian will have to try to answer.
