Abstract
Nickel base superalloys with high γ' volume fractions can be fabricated via the powder route. After HIP’ing 20°C below the solvus temperature they are partially resolutionized at the same temperature and cooled down at a predetermined rate. Three cooling rates were used ranging from oil quenching (3600°C/mn) air cooling (600°C/mn), to controlled slow cooling (100°C/mn). Two high performance alloys were submitted to various heat treatments after partial resolutionizing. Their mechanical behaviour was studied by performing intermediate temperature tensile, creep and relaxation tests and examining damage after creep.
