Abstract
It is demonstrated that chain entangling in a well crosslinked polybutadiene network results in an equilibrium elastic contribution, which equals the rubber plateau modulus of the same uncrosslinked polymer. It is found to be true for crosslink densities varying by as much as a factor of four. This result is obtained by introducing the crosslinks in the strained state. No theory and no assumptions are required.
