An Extension of LR-Parsing for Lexical Functional Grammar

Abstract

Syntactic parsing is a well investigated domain in Computational Linguistics. Efficient Algorithms for context free grammars such as LR Parsing (for deterministic grammars) or Earle’s Algorithm were developed more than a decade ago. But only very recently one of them, Earle’s algorithm, has been applied to Lexical Functional Grammar (Block/Haugeneder 1986). In this paper we show an alternative approach using methods of LR parsing.
