In vivo measurement of the thickness of the retino-choroidal layers by RF-signal analysis

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Documenta Ophthalmologica Proceedings Series ((DOPS,volume 51))

Summary

We have developed a system that permits exceptionally accurate measurements of human retinal, choroidal and scleral thickness in vivo by means of ultrasound and Fourier analysis.

With minicomputer techniques, the complementary functions of the time and spectral domains of reflected sound can be used to permit measurements accurate to less than 20 percent at 10 MHz center frequency.
