Abstract

Reproductive immunobiology has progressed to an adult immunological discipline that is rapidly contributing answers to some of the major outstanding questions in mammalian reproduction. In so doing, many of the proposed theories of the past which seemed so difficult to validate have been discarded, and new questions have been addressed, utilizing advanced, sophisticated immunological probes to answer them. The mechanisms of immunoregulation operating during a normal pregnancy and the abnormalities attending a failing pregnancy are now more clearly defined1.
