Elastic Constants and Residual Stresses in Ceramic Coatings

  • Chapter
International Conference on Residual Stresses

Abstract

Definition and calculation of the X-ray elastic constants (XEC) from the compliances of arbitrary structure according to the boundary assumption of Voigt and of Reuss and to the model of Kröner, mechanically quasiIsotropic and anisotropic materials. Discussion on calculated and experimentally determined XEC of thin films and of solid ceramic materials. Parameters of origin of the residual stresses in coating, interface and substrate materials.
