Use of the Vector Method of Quantitative Texture Analysis for the Measurement of Residual Stresses

Abstract

It is well known that the crystallographic texture induces an anisotropic mechanical behaviour of the polycrystal, so that the standart measurement of X-ray residual stresses cannot be used because the lattice-strain distribution versus2ψ presents oscillations /1,2,3/. In this paper, we propose a method to correct the effect of the crystallographic texture in residual stress measurement by means of the Vector Method of quantitative texture analysis.
